Crossroads dances were a popular event on Sundays thoughout the summer months at Coolbock crossroads up until the 1960’s. These gatherings were mainly an event for young people to meet, dance and sometimes even find a future husband or wife. A dance board or half door would be placed on the cross and the locals, arriving on foot or by high nelly, would gather to play music, sing, dance and socialise.

There will a huge gathering at this event of Sligo’s finest musicians and dancers including: Seamie O’ Dowd, Cian Kearns, PJ & Seamus Hernon, Michael Hurley, Caoimhe Kearns, Grainne & Ellen Langton, Aaron & Ava Glancy, Ryan Sheridan, Niamh O’ Suillivan, Roisin & Céilí Faughnan, Conor McDonagh, Seamus O Donnell, Peter Crann, Niamh O’ Grady, Stephen Doherty, Niamh Kerins, Emma Benson and hosts Karen Tansey & Edwina Guckian from Áirc Damhsa Culture Club.
